Got this as a long-wished for birthday present for my husband. He was so happy and eager to try it out! He cannot stop raving about it! The tines are so long that he even managed to find a long forgotten sole of a shoe buried in the yard.
I thought that I would need the longer tines on the 14 " but it's too heavy for me. I guess i should've gotten to 12"
So happy to have this in my arsenal. I (5’ 6”) am able to use this without the help of a stronger friend. I really appreciate all of the positive posts and education via organic farmers and gardeners who respect their soil and all living things. This tool is everything they said it would be and has already improved our soil.
I have been gardening for over 50 years. I like tools that are functional and last a long time. Quality functionality and durability are all excellent. My daughter who is now 36 and does quite a bit of gardening is always borrowing my 16 in Fork. But it's a little big and heavy so for her birthday my wife and I got her the 14-in and it's really the ideal type of present. Because you know it's going to last and it's something that the person will put their hands on and remember exactly where they got that from. We live in an area of the country where the juniper trees will dominate all water consumption so I use the fork to semi regularly get below the the main bio strata in the soil and tear up to Juniper mat that exists under their sucking water and nutrients like a placenta. Also a tool for all kinds of heavy duty loosening projects like deep wood chips out of playground for example.
